Hi everyone!
The end of the University year is upon us. Congratulations to you if you have time to even read Salient, having completed all relevant assignments and being all studied up for tests and exams. I truly envy you! Another big congratulations to Georgie Dickson, 2008 Elected Women’s Rights Officer.
Georgie offers this role experience and passion, and I wish her the best of luck. A big-ups to all those who put themselves up for election, and a special congrats to the Elected Exec of 2008.
I have really enjoyed my time in this role. It has challenged me and my views, and ultimately made me a stronger person. While I still have the next three months to define the role further and spring clean VUWSA cupboards, with campus population heavily reduced, my time to shine is over. My highlights of this role have been the NZUSA conference and subsequent controversy, getting to know an awesome group of hard-working people, and definitely Women’s Fest.
By this stage, you might be able to tell that I am drained from writing essays and have a limited amount of brain power for this column. I apologise.
Apart from German interwar politics, all I can really have up there is “Inner City Pressure” (Flight of the Concords are pretty awesome) and Outrageous Fortune. Although, how scandalous is Shortland Street at the moment? Well worth wasting 30 minutes to watch. Have you seen the ads for that super-cool toothbrush that makes songs while you brush your teeth? If you were struggling with what to get me for Christmas, I have found the answer for you. Mmm… summer. Thorndon summer pool, Fruju Tropical Snow ice blocks and G&Ts. And my party toothbrush.
Anyway, good luck for exams and have an awesome holiday. Like I said, I am around VUWSA until Christmas (so you can hand deliver that toothbrush), so feel free to email me or pop in for a chat.
