Red pomegranate jewels
Dripping rubies in our teeth
The closest we’ll get to diamonds
but today we are royalty.
Eyes wide and mouths wider
biting down on words and
sentiments that seep off our tongues
like honey.
Pink wine and meringue crumbs
litter sweet scents in the air
The glasses look like cut-crystal
even if the table is bare.
Looking back one day,
dinner will have taken on a drunken haze
but for that moment we were royal.
Red pomegranate jewels
dripping rubies in our teeth.
