After two successful events at Midland Park on Lambton Quay, Downtown EcoTherapy (DET) is giving students at the University’s Pipitea campus the opportunity get their hands in the soil and do their part to replant the planet this week.
DET is organized by a group of volunteers, including student environmental club Gecko and Southern Environmental Group and is sponsored by the Wellington City Council.
DET uses soy and milk cartons collected from over 35 cafes around Wellington to pot up native seedlings to enable them to grow larger in preparation for planting by volunteers on Wellington’s south coast. Promoted as a “therapeutic” activity, students are encouraged to take part.
The event will be held this Wednesday, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Rutherford House.
