OVER 300 students from the Asia Pacific converged on Wellington last week for the annual Australasian Intervarsity Debating Championships (“Australs”).
Seven preliminary rounds took place last week, with finals taking place during the weekend. Debaters had half an hour to prepare before giving an eight minute speech on topics as varied as politics, sport and religion.
Vic’s greatest hope for winning the competition for the first time since 1998 is the team Victoria 1, who at the time of writing have won five of their five debates.
