21 Massey University students and two recent graduates will make up more than 10 per cent of the team set to represent New Zealand in next month’s Olympic Games.

Team members include representatives in shooting, rowing, hockey, soccer, swimming and the triathlon.
According to Massey’s Acting Vice-Chancellor Ian Warrington, nurturing such “elite athletes” has seen Massey become the leading sports campus in New Zealand. Among the 300 recipients of this year’s Prime Minister’s Sport Scholarships included 69 Massey students.
With its Academy of Sport programme established in Palmerston North in 2006, Massey furthermore plans to upgrade and extend their facilities at both the Albany and Wellington campuses.
