Film students reading this should all already know about this movie, or at least have seen Kane and Greehough walking around campus. So take the advice and go and see it! It’s a terrific film and very unlike the ones most of you will have seen. Kissy Kissy explores the lives of several 20-ish-year-olds living in Wellington and uses naturalistic style to delve into the dark areas of tense relationships. Sally works at the video store and is not-so-secretly in love with Geoff. Dave runs off down south, abandoning the crew of a movie he was starring in and imposing on his friend Lee who just seems to want peace and quiet. It’s always great to support local stuff, and with Kissy Kissy being easy to relate to and filmed just downtown it doesn’t get more local than this.
