Chilly scales herald your arrival
La fin et marche royale du singe
This is the dawn, the scalding light, a toxic light
My baying in the dark rasped and dry,
Our bodies pressed, you and I, against the
Rough sheets
Of a spindled web, the bars of a cage.
Teeth drawn back from their gums, and sharp nails biting flesh
Shivering back the chill
Our
Hard nipples and foggy breath keep the moon away
And we howl.
A long howl, a broken howl, a doleful cry uttered not by
Dog or wolf
But man in pleasure and pain and confusion
This is the dawn, dear friend.
Purging and blistering,
Like a creeping venom.
Oh how I have grown accustomed to the dark that I have lived
In too long.
Ted is a Law and International Relations student. He is really interested in cut-up beat poetry, of which this is an example. He has been writing for as long as he can remember and is currently working on getting his first novel published.
